ANSI and A3 publish revised R15.06 industrial robot safety standard
These standards, which were first published in 2006 and 2011, have been significantly expanded to reflect technological advances.

The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) and ANSI have published the R15.06-2025 standard for industrial robots, which is based on ISO standards 10218-1:2025 and 10218-2:2025. The new standard replaces the term "collaborative robot" with "collaborative application" to emphasize the entire human-robot collaboration. The term "safety-assessed supervised stop" has also been changed to "supervised standstill".
Part 1 of the standard introduces cybersecurity requirements, while Part 2 focuses on applications. A third part, focusing on users, is expected later this year. The changes reflect the need to keep pace with technological developments and ensure safety in the robotics industry.
