Changes in the Trumpf boards

22.03.2023 - In the year of its 100th anniversary, the high-tech company Trumpf is reorganizing its management bodies.

Peter Leibinger leaves the managing board and takes over chairmanship of the supervisory board from Jürgen Hambrecht. Christian Schmitz also retires from the managing board. The previous managing directors of Trumpf Laser in Schramberg and Trumpf Photonic Components in Ulm were appointed as new members of the managing board.

The following changes take effect with the start of the new fiscal year 2023/24 on July 1, 2023:

Dr-Ing eh Peter Leibinger (55), vice chairman of the managing board and chief technology officer, is moving from the managing board to the supervisory board, where he assumes chairmanship, succeeding Dr Jürgen Hambrecht. Hambrecht (76), who has been chairman of the supervisory board at Trumpf since 2013, will resign from his position and leave the board after ten years for age reasons.

Elke Reichart (58), formerly CDO of TUI AG, succeeds Prof Dr Claudia Eckert (64) on the supervisory board. Dr Christian Schmitz (63), member of the managing board responsible for the laser technology business division, steps down from his post after reaching retirement age.

The new managing board member responsible for the laser technology business division will be Dr Hagen Zimer (50). The physicist has been the managing director of Trumpf Laser GmbH in Schramberg since 2020. Dr Zimer has previously worked for the company in areas such as research and development and was managing director of Trumpf’s diode laser facility in the US.

Dr Berthold Schmidt (54) will succeed Peter Leibinger as the new CTO on the managing board. The physicist has been the managing director of Trumpf Photonic Components in Ulm since April 2020 and has been with the company since 2013, including as CTO for research and development of the laser technology division and as head of corporate research for corporate R&D.

In the extended management team, Peter Bokelmann (62) is leaving the company as general counsel for reasons of age.

Dr Zimer’s successor for Schramberg will be Dr Björn Dymke (47). Dymke has been with Trumpf since 2008 and was most recently head of finance and controlling at the group in Ditzingen. Prior to this, Dymke, a business economist, was responsible for finance and administration of the Trumpf subsidiaries in North America for three years. Dr Schmidt’s successor in Ulm will be announced in time for July 1, 2023.

Chairwoman of the managing board Dr Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller and managing board members Dr-Ing Mathias Kammüller (CDO), Dr Lars Grünert (CFO), Oliver Maassen (CHRO), Dr-Ing Stephan Mayer (CEO machine tools) will retain their current functions.
