IDS reorganizes management
IDS appoints Dr. Michael Berger as managing director. Company founder and partner Jürgen Hartmann is withdrawing from the company.

Dr. Michael Berger has been appointed Managing Director of IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH with immediate effect. Jürgen Hartmann, founder and partner of the industrial camera manufacturer, is leaving the management after 27 years at the helm of the company.
With the entry of 42-year-old Berger into the IDS management team, the generational change of the Obersulm-based machine vision specialist has been successfully completed. Berger will be responsible for the sales, marketing, product management and system consulting business areas. Jan Hartmann will now lead the areas of Finance, HR, IT and Business Innovation & Ecosystem; In addition to his previous area of responsibility for operations, Alexander Lewinsky will also take over development. Jürgen Hartmann is handing over management of the operational business and will in future be the family company's Chief Innovation Manager, providing advice in the areas of technologies and innovations. He remains managing partner of Hartmann Holding GmbH.
Dr. Michael Berger studied business administration at the University of Bayreuth, received his doctorate in sales and market management at the University of Konstanz and most recently worked for VARTA AG as General Manager Li-Ion Cells. His actions are always characterized by a clear market orientation.
Early and careful preparation for the handover of his management responsibility in his own company was important to Jürgen Hartmann from an early stage. He initiated this step four years ago with the promotion of his son Jan to management and with the appointment of Alexander Lewinsky in 2021.
