Vision Components turns 25

Embedded Vision

20.05.2021 - Embedded vision specialist Vision Components celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021. The company wants to celebrate this occasion with a webinar series and a hackathon under the motto: "This has to work better" - a mindset that Vision Components considers typical for itself.

In 1995, Managing Director Michael Engel developed and presented the world's first intelligent camera suitable for industrial use. By founding the company the following year and entering series production, he left a lasting mark on the market for industrial machine vision. The freely programmable cameras provided OEMs with great flexibility in developing customized solutions for all conceivable vision applications.

Solving image processing tasks without a PC and control cabinet.

Many tasks could now be solved in a space-saving manner without image processing computers and control cabinets. The first generation of smart cameras was soon followed by Vision Components' next innovations, including the first intelligent vision sensors and embedded 3D laser profile sensors.

Most recently, the manufacturer unveiled the VC Picosmart miniature embedded vision system. It is fully functional, with all components for image acquisition and processing, including FPGA and FPU - and as small as a conventional image sensor module.

In addition, Vision Components is now also involved in the development and manufacture of MIPI camera modules for flexible embedded vision designs based on single-board computers. Here, the company offers a wide variety of sensors, drivers and accessories for fast commissioning. Long-term availability for commercial projects is guaranteed for all products.
