Zeiss and MVTec have agreed on a strategic cooperation in which the Halcon machine vision software will be integrated as the image processing basis in the new Zeiss Blockwise software platform. Blockwise is designed as a toolbox for automated microscopy and primarily addresses applications in electron microscopy, for example in the semiconductor industry. The platform supports complex measurement, inspection and analysis tasks and enables a high degree of automation.

Halcon provides the image processing functions for this. The software combines rule-based processes with deep learning methods in a common environment. This allows users to map different requirements within one system and develop their solutions step by step. Blockwise integrates image acquisition directly into the microscope workflow and defines the next process steps based on the data obtained. This is intended to support reproducible processes, precise results and the processing of large volumes of data, while at the same time lowering the entry barrier for users with different levels of experience.
