High quality low-noise coaxial cable for acquiring the smallest signals

Product: High quality low-noise cables of the “CAB-LN1” series that minimize triboelectric and microphonic interference and are therefore ideal for the ultra-sensitive measurement of the smallest currents (down to the femtoampere range) and charges. The cables are available in various lengths and are suitable for a bandwidth of up to around 10 MHz.

Background: Mechanical impacts on cables (vibration, sound waves, friction …) can induce electrical charges due to the triboelectric effect and cause significant additional noise. When measuring small currents in the nano, pico, and femtoampere range, triboelectric noise can even dominate.

Features: A special, semi-conductive layer between the dielectric and the shield effectively reduces this kind of noise, and the noise reduction can even be more than 1000 times that of default BNC cables. The coaxial structure of the cables also ensures the expected good shielding against electromagnetic interference. By using high-quality components, the high insulation resistance of >1014 Ω can be guaranteed for the fully assembled cable.

Applications: The wide range of applications includes high resistance measurements, scanning probe microscopy (SPM), spectroscopy and signal acquisition from photodetectors, ionization detectors, piezoelectric and pyroelectric detectors.
