Exail übernimmt Leukos
Hightech-Industrieunternehmen erweitert sein Photonik-Know-how um das Laser-Know-how aus Limoges, Frankreich.
Employing a workforce of 1850 people worldwide, the French Exail group strengthened itself with the integration of the photonics company Leukos, which specializes in advanced laser sources for metrology, spectroscopy, and imaging applications. Leukos brings two decades of expertise in developing high-tech products, including pulsed microlasers, supercontinuum laser sources, and ultrafast fiber lasers.
Expanding its technological capabilities in photonics, this acquisition marks a significant milestone for Exail. By combining Leukos’ advanced technologies with Exail’s expertise in specialty fibers, modulation, micro-optical assemblies, and quantum systems, the group enhances its product offerings and expands its solutions to address new markets, including biophotonics and microelectronics. Leukos will operate as a subsidiary of Exail, retaining its product portfolio and branding to ensure continuity for customers and partners.

Leukos was created in 2006 as a spin-off from the XLIM research institute, a joint research unit from CNRS and the University of Limoges. The company was founded by pioneers of supercontinuum generation to develop brand new compact supercontinuum lasers based on their expertise in nonlinear optics.
