ABB expands the Minden location

ABB has started building a new hall at the Minden location. The new building, a 2,500 square meter production hall for the Traction division, expands production capacities and is intended to contribute to better quality assurance.

Above all, however, the investment serves to develop and implement innovative products and production technologies for energy-efficient and sustainable electromobility. The hall is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2022 and will make a contribution to the future of the Minden location.

The new building has modern lighting solutions, and a flexible overhead crane ensures more efficient and ergonomic work. It is designed for around 25 employees. Connected to the hall are modern social and sanitary rooms as well as new offices and a meeting room.

The structure is planned with reinforced concrete columns and prestressed trapezoidal girders in precast construction. The sole is intended as a reinforced concrete special sole. In addition, a surrounding reinforced concrete base in the hall was taken into account in order to protect the facade elements from damage from the inside and to enable heavy fixtures to be attached. On the long sides of the building there are four, two opposite, large external gates. In this way, deliveries and deliveries are made possible, in which the delivery traffic can drive through the hall without shunting. Next to the gates are doors for passenger traffic, which at the same time form the necessary escape routes.
