Awards presented for innovations in quantum technologies

The Quantum Effects Awards were presented in four categories at the Stuttgart trade fair and conference.

It is already considered the world’s leading annual trade fair and conference for application-oriented quantum technologies. Yesterday, Tuesday, the second edition of Quantum Effects opened in Stuttgart. As part of the opening ceremony, representatives of four companies from Germany and abroad received the winners' trophies for their new developments in four areas.

Awards were presented to entries in four categories that have a high degree of innovation and future potential, enable different areas of application and services or open up new perspectives overall.

In the Quantum Computing Hardware category, the award went to the company Quantinuum from Broomfield, Colorado. The winners have developed a system that has more QuBits than can be precisely modulated with supercomputers – with a 30,000-fold energy saving compared to the supercomputer.

The Saarbrücken-based company Qruise was delighted to receive an award in the Software & Algorithms category: with the help of artificial intelligence, they created a software solution that enables the systematic planning and execution of experiments with quantum computers.

The winner in the quantum sensor technology category was SBQuantum from Sherbrooke in the Canadian province of Quebec. The team has succeeded in developing a sensor that enables extremely precise navigation in aviation and can even be used in space due to its robustness. The company's sensor technology has already been tested in several field trials in Canada.

Finally, Attocube Systems from Haar in Upper Bavaria received the award in the Quantum Communication & Networks category – for a transportable, space-saving cooling cube which, according to the jury, revolutionizes the cooling of quantum systems and thus makes a very important contribution to the use of quantum systems.
