Basler and MVTec will become part of the Siemens ecosystem

The new partnerships are intended to enable easy integration of machine vision into Siemens automation technology

Basler and MVTec are cooperating with Siemens. The new partnerships are intended to enable customers to integrate machine vision applications directly into their existing automation technology. From now on it will be possible to offer “plug and play” solutions for machine vision – a suitable portfolio of automation and image processing components, consisting of hardware and software.

Integrating cameras into automation is considered cumbersome and requires a high level of specific knowledge in order to coordinate compatible components. This is associated with high costs and is often implemented on independent “islands” (e.g. dedicated industrial PCs). The collaboration between the three companies is intended to reduce complexity for customers and thus significantly lower the barrier to entry for integrating machine vision solutions into their machines and systems.

"Together with our new partners in the open Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem, we are integrating industrial image processing into automation. This helps with many tasks, for example when it comes to difficult quality control or reducing errors and thus waste in industrial production "We are taking an important step towards adaptable, sustainable production and increasingly autonomous production processes," says Rainer Brehm, CEO Factory Automation at Siemens.
