Better access to artificial intelligence

Research project wants to ensure that more people have easier access to artificial intelligence.

In the future, everyone in industry should be able to use AI tools, set up and maintain new test applications. Without any AI expert knowledge. This is the goal of the research project DeKIOps - democratization of AI with understandable and easily accessible Machine Learning Operations (MLOps). In this context, several companies are developing general guidelines and two demonstrators in industrial applications by the end of 2025 under the leadership of the working group for supply chain services of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS.

The practical test of the developed guidelines takes place in the project. As an image processing and AI expert, Senswork is developing a vision AI system that can be operated and maintained without AI expertise in the future. New products are taught in by the customer on the machine. This is implemented in the form of a demonstrator, with the help of which a range of products is tested in the large-scale production of a supplier company. Beyond the innovative AI technology, user-friendliness is paramount, both in terms of software ergonomics and UX design. The project thus offers far-reaching perspectives with regard to the independence of customers from AI experts and significantly lowers the access threshold to AI in the vision area. As a result, this also counteracts the shortage of skilled workers.
