Jenoptik expands optics manufacturing capacities

As a result of the increasing demand for optics and sensors for the semiconductor industry, Jenoptik intends to expand its manufacturing capacities and construct a state-of-the-art production building and a new office complex at the Dresden site. To this end, the company has purchased a 24,000 square meter plot of land at Airportpark Dresden in May 2021.

Planning for a new Jenoptik clean room building and the modern office complex is now starting and should be ready for approval this year. As things stand today, construction is scheduled to begin in the 2nd half of 2022, with production at the new factory starting in early 2025. The company intends to announce further details once planning has been completed.

Within Germany, Dresden is an important location for the semiconductor industry, where many global companies and research institutions in the sector are present. But semiconductor manufacturers worldwide are also investing in expanding production capacity as demand increases in almost all areas of life due to digitalization. Jenoptik has been present in Dresden since 2007 and develops and produces optical components with lithographic processes as well as precision sensor modules there.
