Maik Müller becomes new photonics chairman at Spectaris

29.11.2023 - Dr Christian Korth was elected as new board member.

Photonics at Spectaris has a new leader: Maik Müller, CEO of Nynomic, has been elected as the new chairman of the trade association. With 95 percent approval from the members, Müller received the confidence to continue the successful work of his predecessor Dr Bernhard Ohnesorge, managing director of Carl Zeiss Jena.

The new elections had become necessary because Ohnesorge was elected chairman of the Spectaris association in September. In his farewell speech, Ohnesorge praised the past four and a half years of his photonics tenure as a time of a joint departure and emphasized the importance of strategic initiatives such as the expansion of the Photonics Germany association alliance, improved research funding and the recruitment of qualified specialists for German photonics companies. Alongside the election of Maik Müller as the new chairman, Dr Christian Korth from Carl Zeiss Spectroscopy was confirmed as a new member of the photonics board.

In his introduction, the new chairman Maik Müller emphasized his goals for the coming term of office. In particular, he wants to drive forward the strengthening and expansion of cooperation within the Photonics Germany brand. Müller also sees it as important to consistently represent the interests of all photonics member companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

The personal farewell to Dr Bernhard Ohnesorge and the official welcoming of Maik Müller and Dr Christian Korth will take place at the next Spectaris Photonics Industry Day on February 21, 2024 at Jabil Optics in Jena.

Photonics Germany is the alliance of OptecNet Germany and Spectaris and represents more than 600 photonics companies and research institutes. PhotonicsViews is its official publishing medium since April 2021.
