For the new location planned by Zeiss in Aalen-Ebnat, the construction project is being delayed due to optimizations to the existing design planning. The reason for this is that Zeiss has also identified various optimization potentials. These potentials will now be integrated into the existing planning in a further step. This includes, among other things, building and area optimization, which enables more efficient use of floor plans for shorter logistical routes, optimization of the technical requirements of individual building areas and adaptation of the facade design.

In order to fully complete this step, Zeiss has decided to extend the planning phase until spring 2025. This will have an impact on the project schedule, which will be drawn up during this phase and communicated after completion. With a successful statutory resolution by the city of Aalen in September, the construction project has reached an important milestone despite the delay.

A development and production site for metrology and microscopy for the Zeiss Industrial Quality & Research division with around 2,500 jobs is to be built on the site north of Ebnat. This should fit into the existing topography of the site as gently as possible. The company already informed about this planned and important investment for ZEISS in the Ostalb region in spring 2024.
