Tailored solutions for the e-mobility market

The cornerstone of a new collaboration is the integration of Cailabs’ beam shaping modules into Precitec’s laser beam welding heads.

The partnership between the two companies started in 2018 as part of the Horizon 2020 project Custodian. They have seamlessly combined their expertise, leading now to the integration of the companies’ beam shaping modules and welding heads to improve precision and efficiency in laser welding.

The challenges of laser welding in e-mobility, particularly with reflective and thermally conductive materials such as copper and aluminum, have been specifically addressed in recent months by Cailabs’ beam shaping technology. This improves the interaction of the laser with these materials, ensures energy absorption and improved welding quality. Integration with Precitec's laser welding heads not only overcomes traditional welding limitations, but also opens up new possibilities for advanced manufacturing techniques in the growing e-mobility sector.

This partnership is poised to make a significant impact on the e-mobility market. “The collaboration between Cailabs and Precitec is a testament to our commitment to driving innovation in laser technology”, says Jean-François Morizur, CEO of Cailabs. Klaus Löffler, managing director of Precitec adds, “The integration of Cailabs' beam shaping expertise into our welding systems opens up new possibilities for e-mobility manufacturers worldwide in terms of precision and efficiency in laser welding”.
