The new collaboration aims to establish a robust and enduring relationship focused on advancing photonics innovation. By leveraging VUB's distinguished photonics research group, B-Phot, Prof Hugo Thienpont, and Hamamatsu Photonics' industry experience, both entities are committed to exploring new avenues for supporting companies in various stages of photonics development.

Key areas of collaboration include providing support to companies in photonics feasibility studies, proof-of-concept demonstrations, prototyping, and quality control. Additionally, the partnership will explore the development of photonic modules and subsystems to enhance Hamamatsu Photonics' product portfolio.

Furthermore, the alliance will extend its reach to European companies through PhotonHub Europe, facilitating collaborative efforts with partner research institutes across Europe.

An exciting outcome of this partnership is the introduction of ‘Pilot Lines’, a new service aimed at bridging the gap between conceptualization and market-ready photonics products. Pilot Lines, led by Hamamatsu Photonics and PhotonHub Europe, will facilitate the seamless transition of photonics-based technologies from early-stage development to commercialization.

Marco Mayer, strategic business development manager Europe at Hamamatsu Photonics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership stating, “This collaboration signifies an exciting opportunity to combine VUB and PhotonHub’s expertise with Hamamatsu's advanced technology to drive innovation and support the growth of our customers' businesses.”

The launch of Pilot Lines will be during the upcoming Technology Days event from April 25th to June 13th, across eight European cities, as a dynamic platform for networking, including presentations and live demonstrations. Registration: www.technology-days.com
