EMVA Young Professional Award 2022 - apply now

Award for young machine vision professionals

19.11.2021 - The call for applications for the EMVA Young Professional Award 2022 has started. From now on, students and young professionals in machine vision can apply for the annual award. The winner will receive prize money and will have the opportunity to attend the upcoming EMVA conference in Brussels free of charge. Costs for flight and hotel will be covered.

The EMVA Young Professional Award is an annual prize of 1,500 euros awarded by the European Machine Vision Association to recognize the outstanding and innovative work of a student or young professional in the field of machine vision or image processing.

The goal of the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) is to encourage further innovation in the machine vision industry, to contribute to specialized machine vision education, and to bridge the gap between research and industry.

The winner of the award will be announced at the 20th EMVA Business Conference 2022, to be held May 12-14 in Brussels, Belgium, and will be allowed to present the winning work to machine vision industry leaders from Europe and abroad. The presentation will then be published by the international machine vision press.

1,500 euros prize money plus trip in Europe

In addition to receiving the EMVA Young Professional Award, which comes with 1,500 euros in prize money, and publicizing the research paper, the student will receive a free conference pass to the EMVA Business Conference, as well as all travel expenses to Brussels and a free ticket to the European Machine Vision Forum 2022 in Ireland.

With this award, the EMVA aims to encourage students and young researchers to address challenges in the field of machine vision and to apply the latest research results and findings to the practical needs of the industry.

The criteria for work to be recognized with the EMVA Young Professional Award are:

  • Outstanding or innovative work in the field of machine vision technology.
  • Industrial relevance and collaboration with a company during the work is required.
  • The work (Master's or PhD thesis or equivalent research) must have been carried out within the last 18 months at a European institution or in collaboration with such an institution. In the meantime, the student may have entered the professional field.
