After two virtual editions, the first EMVA Business Conference with a physical presence after the pandemic-related hiatus will again welcome some 120 conference attendees in Brussels from May 12-14, 2022. The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), as organizer of the conference, has released the conference program with top-notch speakers, all covering cutting-edge topics in the vision tech scene and beyond.

For example, the opening keynote address, "The Changing Face of Geopolitics in the 2020's," by Peter Conradi, editor of The Sunday Times, could not be more timely in this new phase of European and global history. Conradi has lived in Russia, among other places, for seven years. Guido Hertel, partner at AT Kearney, will examine the resilience of the manufacturing industry in relation to the Corona and semiconductor crises in his presentation.

Tim Baeyens, chief strategy officer of Gpixel, will present the diverse machine vision activities in Belgium, the host country of the conference.

Technical presentations on Industry 4.0, Swir and 3D vision.

The technical part of the conference program covers the entire spectrum of machine vision technology development. Erik Widding, president of Birger Engineering, will focus his presentation on "Goals and Objectives of Lens Platform Developments. What it takes to bring Industry 4.0 to life with edge devices is the focus of the presentation by Boris Scharinger, Innovation Manager at Siemens Digital Industries.

Shane MacNamara, Senior Vice President Research & Development at Sick, will talk about "Challenges and Opportunities in Creating a Broad 3D Vision Portfolio." In addition, the development of image sensors will be addressed in several program sessions. Pawel Malinowski of IMEC in host country Belgium titles his talk "Quantum dots enabling accessible Swir imaging."

Panel discussion on imaging beyond the visible spectrum

A high-level panel discussion will bring together a group of experts to share their insights on the future of "non-visible imaging." Imaging in the non-visible spectrum has made tremendous strides in recent years, both in the underlying technology and in understanding applications where it can add value. The topic will be further explored on the second day of the conference by Prof. Dr. Bernd Jähne of the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing (HCI) in his presentation "The Significant Technical Progress of Non-Visible Image Sensors."

Cybersecurity and cybercrime as another program focus will be the focus of the conference talk by Mark Hebbel, Head of Consultancy and Startup Studio at Chainstep, among others.

A central element of the EMVA Business Conference is also the presentation of the EMVA Young Professional Award and the presentation of this year's award-winning work.
