Unlike conventional "closed" smart cameras that come with pre-installed software for specific applications, Alecs represents Allied Vision's entry into the open smart camera market - a powerful hardware platform with a comprehensive Board-Support-Package (BSP) that you can customize with your own software. Alecs provides the advanced hardware and Linux-based foundation, giving you complete freedom to develop and deploy your own applications. You transform Alecs into a tailored "Closed Smart Camera" once you add your specialized software.
Alecs combines the feature rich Alvium camera platform with the powerful NVIDIA Orin NX System on Module (SoM) and a robust IP67 housing. Compatible with the Open eVision Image analysis libraries from Euresys it has everything to process your image data on Alecs directly. With Alvium camera at its core, Alecs offers a wide range of integrated sensors and a comprehensive feature set for image processing. Whether object detection, tracking, classification, or other complex computer vision tasks, Alecs is the ideal choice for your custom software solution, offering sufficient power to support demanding AI algorithms
Product features
The Alecs cameras feature a range of technical specifications that define its performance and functionality. Firstly, it offers high-resolution imaging in both mono and color, with a resolution of 5 and 12 megapixels. Additionally, it is equipped with an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX processor, which enables fast and efficient processing of images and data.
Another feature of the camera is the indicator lights located on the left and right sides, which can display multiple colors to indicate various statuses or conditions. The camera also has a range of interfaces, including two opto-inputs, two opto-outputs, one strobe output, and one RS485 output, which allow for a variety of applications and integrations.
Furthermore, the camera has a protection rating of IP67, which shields it from dust and water, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. The connection options are secured through M12 connectors for Ethernet and Power/IO, ensuring a reliable and secure connection. A separate M12 connector for lighting enables the connection of external light sources, allowing for optimal adjustment of lighting conditions for image capture.

The Board Support Package based on Vimba X provides an integrated recovery mode to ensure the camera always remains in a safe state. Furthermore, the system's compatibility with Open eVision Image analysis libraries from Euresys expands its capabilities, allowing for seamless integration and analysis.
