“Lasers are transforming our lives in ways that continue to surprise the world. For example, who would have imagined that smartphones would be so central to our daily routines and how much we depend on them? But smartphones wouldn’t be the marvels of engineering that they are today without industrial lasers to manufacture them and semiconductor lasers to go inside of them. The last 20 years have been a great journey for me, as I am sure it has been for PhotonicsViews readers, as we all watched transformations based on laser technology. I have learned to expect to continue to be surprised by how lasers will change the way we live, work, and play, and I’m sure we’ll read it all in PhotonicsViews in the years to come.
