AI-based service edge app for higher availability of drives

Siemens

13.05.2022 - As part of the Predictive Services for Drive Systems, Siemens is expanding its range with an edge application. The Predictive Service Analyzer indicates defects in the drive system at an early stage before they affect the entire production.

In this way, unplanned production downtimes can be avoided and maintenance times can be planned in good time, which increases the availability of systems by up to 30 percent. Because maintenance and repair activities are based on actual needs, productivity increases by up to 10 percent. The AI-based solution of the Predictive Service Analyzer already detects the first signs of anomalies that indicate mechanical damage in the motor, such as bearing damage, imbalance and misalignment, as well as critical operating conditions of the converter. The app evaluates the severity of the defect and the expected remaining service life and can thus predict any future failures.

The Predictive Service Analyzer is particularly suitable for applications with constant movements, as is the case with pumps, fans and compressors or with motors that do not require speed control.
