Photoelectric sensors for hygiene-critical applications

Contrinex

09.08.2022 – Contrinex is expanding its range of photoelectric sensors with M12M and M18M devices in metal housings. The sensors are equipped with ASIC technology and an IO-Link interface. Due to their robustness, they are particularly suitable for hygiene-critical applications.

Due to Ecolab approval, process engineers in the food and beverage sector use the M18P Optos. The M12M and M18M devices not only offer the same sensing ranges and resistance to washdown and process fluids, but also bring additional robustness to environments where mechanical shock and excessive vibration occur (Ecolab certification pending for M12M and M18M devices). With chrome-plated brass housings (M12M) and stainless steel housings (M18M), each with shatterproof PMMA optics, the sensors are suitable for the harshest environments.

Full IO-Link functionality enables real-time access to process data as well as features such as user-configurable outputs, sensitivity adjustment, event flags, dual-channel operation and sensor temperature measurement. They also offer ranges of up to 1.2 m (photoelectric proximity switch), 7 m (retro-reflective sensor), 30 m (through-beam sensor) and 250 mm (background suppression).
