Vision Components presents the smallest embedded vision system

The system fits completely on a circuit board and is hardly larger than an image sensor module.

Vision Components is showing VC picoSmart for the first time at embedded world 2021 Digital (March 1st to 5th). This board camera, measuring just 22 mm x 23.5 mm, contains all the components required for image processing: 1 megapixel CMOS sensor with global shutter, FPGA module, high-end FPU processor and memory. An interface board can be connected via the integrated FPC connector. This makes VC picoSmart the perfect basis for the rapid development of cost-effective, application-specific and compact vision sensors. Vision Components ‘VCRT operating system, which has been tried and tested in practice for many years, enables image processing in real time, for example for object recognition, position control, barcode reading, web edge and fill level control.

The German manufacturer, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021, will also be presenting new MIPI camera modules at the fair. These are designed for flexible embedded vision designs and easy connection to CPU boards such as NVIDIA Jetson, the NXP i.MX 8M Mini / Nano / Plus processor family and the Raspberry Pi Compute Modules and are continuously being expanded with additional image sensors. VC-MIPI modules are now also available with high-end sensors from the Sony Pregius and Sony Starvis series, which offer high resolutions, light sensitivity and frame rates. Furthermore, Vision Components is announcing VC-MIPI camera modules with the latest SWIR sensors from Sony at the embedded world.

Interested parties are invited to find out more about the VC solutions for embedded vision via www.embedded-world.de and to arrange individual chats with the team.
