Infratec celebrates topping-out ceremony

20.12.2022 - Shell construction of the second expansion complex completed

Infratec's current investment project has taken shape: the shell of the second complex at the Gostritzer Strasse location in Dresden has been completed. On this occasion, employees and management as well as planners, supporters and executing trades celebrated a traditional topping-out ceremony.

In the 31‐year history of the Dresden company, this expansion, with an investment of 20 million euros, is the largest construction project to date and a clear commitment to the company headquarters and production site in Dresden. Already in 2018 - after 25 years of residence - Infratec acquired its own property in the south location of the Dresden Technology Center. This was significantly expanded by the end of 2020 with the construction of a new clean room and office wing for the sensor technology division.

In the new complex, spacious production and development areas for thermographic cameras and pyroelectric detectors as well as generously designed office areas and social rooms are being built on a total area of 2,700m². Equipped with specially developed, highly flexible, technology-specific manufacturing equipment, such as automated calibration stands and systems for growing and processing pyroelectric crystals, the new building paves the way for an optimized manufacturing structure and higher production capacities. This is the basis for being able to continue to meet the increasing demand for Infratec products, almost 70 percent of which are exported worldwide.

When planning the extension complex, the focus from the outset was on the goal of constructing an energy‐efficient building in accordance with the KfW55 standard. With the support of certified energy efficiency experts, numerous measures to improve the energy balance of the company building were planned: These include, for example, triple-glazed windows, increased thermal insulation of the roof and facade and a photovoltaic system with an output of 100 kWp to supply the clean room with green electricity.
